Ethernet on 2600 bad

Hey guys

one of my 2600 routers has a bad ethernet port. I think. When i connect it to a switch the light on the port wont come on. In my other 2600 the light comes on when i plug it into the switch. I have tried different cables with no results. Is there anything i can do to make sure that the port is actually bad. I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

yeah.

I also have it configured tha same as my other router in which the light turns on when plugged into the switch.

The LED light on the interface wont turn on at all.

Well, if there is nothing physically wrong with the interface (bent or broken pins, or the piece of tape I would put on the pins when we were doing troubleshooting labs!) then I would say it's bad.

Ill double check the port physically when i get home from work. Hopefully there is something in there and the port is not bad.

How about a test interface fastethernet <x/x>

Things to try

Known good patch cable
Known good port on the switch
No shuts on both ends
Trunking off on switch (unless this is an ROAS setup)
Reseat the card if it is a module
Reload the router
Cold boot the router (turn completely off, then back on)

ROAS is router-on-a-stick

It would mean you have the interface set up to inter-vlan routing

if you don't know what it is then don't worry about it (for now, it might help to learn it for the exam)
