2511 & ssh?

seraphusseraphus Member Posts: 307
Greetings-

Can anyone advise what IOS specific version I can use in order to
implement ssh on my 2511? I believe ssh was added to 12.2 and
up, but I can't enable it when issuing the 'transport input'
command. I wonder if this is a hardware limitation...

Thanks in adv.

    here's a good place to start http://tools.cisco.com/ITDIT/CFN/jsp/index.jsp

The 2511 isn't in the Platform drop down after searching SSH features,
    but thanks.

The SSH client requires you to have an IPSec (DES or 3DES) encryption software image -- on a 2500 that would be one of the 12.2 Enterprise Plus Crypto versions.

    Search by platform.
Enterprise/FW PLUS IPSEC 56 has client support for SSH v1

Since the 2500 only supports version 1, if you search by feature, search for Secure Shell SSH Version 1 Integrated Client -- then then you get 2501-2525 as a platform selection. That would give you the complete choice of 2500 IOSs with SSH v1 support. That shows that there are also IP Plus and IP/FW Plus versions that also support it.

Did you complete the prerequisites? Set the host name, set the domain name, generate the key.

Thanks. No, I was unable to under the three IOS versions I tried.
(I am at work now, so I don't have those handy for verification).

I will load another IOS, and try this link again. Thank you both.
