Has recruiting been outsourced?

undomielundomiel Member Posts: 2,818
I ask because the latest series of e-mails and phone calls have all sounded like they are coming from India. Maybe it is just a coincidence and I have just run into a lot of Indian recruiters? Has anyone else noticed anything? Not that it bothers me I actually would find it kind of funny that recruiting is being outsourced.

I have noticed the same trend with recruiters from India as well. When I check my voice mail the only word I can make out is "job".

It sounds like first-tier job recruitment performed by telemarketers. Are they calling with a specific job offer or just phishing for your current job-seeking status? And are your phone numbers public on job boards like dice.com?

For the most part they're about a specific job, though so far very few that I'm interested in. Usually just help desk/tech support. I do have my number set to public on the job boards as well.

Ok, so I'm not the only one getting these calls. Either companies have outsourced first level recruiting to Indian call centers or these recruiters used to recruit Indians for US jobs and are having difficulty filling them so they are forced to resort to hiring Americans.

If I am having difficulty understanding the recruiter, I usually just ask them to email me the job description so I can look it over. I don't want an accent getting in the way of a potential pay raise.

Most of the time an email does follow along with voice mail. A lot of the opportunities have been like 6 month projects or multiple contractor vendors trying to place you for the same exact job for the same company.

I agree most corporate Tier 1 support will be outsourcing to India. However, many companies with good manager recogized that they cannot completely outsourced everything. It hurt them at the end.

Anyway, back to the topic... I didn't heard much about that recruiting...
