Deploying CME

I understand that there are two ways to deploy CME - CLI or QCT

What is the QCT like? Is it straight forward to use? Is this option for inexperienced deployers?

    QCT is great when it works. We've tried it on a few different platforms, and it wasn't consistant. What we finally came up with is a hybrid approach. Use qct to download the phone configurations (with a template). Do the rest with CLI. Once you understand all of the CLI for CME, I believe you're better off working in that mode.

    Do your first configuration while learning using the Quick Configuration Tool to do a simple initial CME setup. Then check the configuration to see the commands. Just like in CVOICE, you first exciting task is to get one phone to call another -- and hopefully you can even have a two way conversation.

    If there are any problems, then use the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express System Administrator Guide to fix them. icon_lol.gif

    When the configuration is simple -- it works great. When it isn't simple, you'll want some experienced backup.

    Just like a lot of things, CME is something that's better to learn in a lab environment, rather then a real deployment at a customer site.
