Scored 883 (804 is passing)

I thought it was really easy! btw, the boson exam provided with the Cisco Press book is much, much harder even if you use show # of answers.

Here's my breakdown

Describe the operation of data network 83%

Implement a small switched network 85%

Implement an IP addressing scheme and IP services to meet network requirements for a small.. 90%

Implement a small routed network 80%

Explain and select the appropriate administrative tasks required for a WLAN 100%

Identify security threats to a network and describe general methods to mitigate those thre.. 100%

Implement and verify WAN links 75%

I first watched the CBT Nugget videos then read the cisco press book, each chapter i read i watched the corrisponding Nuggets videos. After I finished i went through and re-read all the key topics. Then I took the cisco press free boson exam on practice mode. Throughout the whole process I used gns3 for labs as well as a 2500 router and a 1900 switch (which wasn't very helpful.. but i did get to update the IOS version)

Thanks for everyone's help here, I really appreciated it! I'm scheduling the ICND 2 test a month out from now

Get a good nights sleep and try to relax before the exam. Don't try to cram last minute if you've prepared then you're ready.

congrats for the pass!! So.. When are you scheduling the ICND2 test?

Also, how long did you study for prior to the exams (couple of weeks, months, etc).

Lastly, do you have a lot of experience via job related duties or did you just use your lab equipment and sims to pass?

Yeah celebrating this weekend for sure, I'm so thrilled to have a cisco cert again.

I studied for 5 weeks for the ICND 1. I have scheduled the ICND 2 already for May 9th, I may end up pushing it back a week or two at most to be realistic. Unfortunately no I don't have on the job experience. Mainly I work with laptops. My mission is to change that though

I was CCNA certified fall 2003 and I had been going to college for a two year degree in computer networking systems. That's my background.

I just used all my ICND 1 skills setting up my new 871W router that I bought off ebay, hardly used the dipole antennas were actually still sealed in the package. I've got DHCP client setup on the WAN side with NAT setup on the inside with DHCP server.

I LOVE THIS STUFF!!!

I felt I knew them fairly well realitive to the testing objectives. I worked out all my 'weaknesses' before I went so I wouldn't say it was stronger in any one area.

Get GNS3 if you have access to Cisco IOSes its worth your effort

Packet tracer works fine for most of the generic command's. I have seen some advanced setup command's fail. One for example is on DHCP setting exclude list's, which the packet tracer does not recognize the command. I would use it to help build off of what you learn on your home lab. However don't expect it to teach you everything you need to know for hand's on use.

Packet tracer is very pleasing to the eye, but as the above poster says it lacks in commands. I tried it out and was frustrated by the lack of commands.

You've got a great lab already, if I were you that's all I would use for your CCNA studies.

I have scheduled for the 640-822 exam and am to take it on May 03. Is there a lot of subnetting questions cause that is truely my weakest point. Anyone have any suggestions as to strengthen my weakness with subnetting would be greatly appreciated.

Mate, dont want to discourage you or make u feel sad or anything like that, but without subnetting it's going to be hard to pass, maybe even impossible. Brush up your subnetting, learn how to quickly find broadcast address, number of hosts/subnets. I found the following table helpful for my prep:

12( 8 ) - 0000 0001
19( 2 ) - 0000 0011
22( 4 ) - 0000 0111
24( 0 ) - 0000 1111

24( 8 ) - 0001 1111
25( 2 ) - 0011 1111
25( 4 ) - 0111 1111
25( 5 ) - 1111 1111

So just remember the numbers in the brackets and the number of 1's gets incremented in the LSB's.

Way to go on passing. I just got my book in the mail the other day, and have just started working on this cert, along with studying for wireless# as well. Makes for long days, studying before and after hour, and I have an hour drive each way. Thank goodness the wireless# has mp3 lecture I can listen while driving.

Hey guys!

I've decided to reschedule my 640-822 exam from May 03 to May 31st. I really wanted to get more of a grip on subnetting (Finding broadcast, subnet and ip address range for particuliar network) before actually taking the exam. I will be hitting the books and Sim hard!!! Thanks to all for the insight!!
