ASA Specialization?

NetstudentNetstudent Member Posts: 1,693 ■■■□□□□□□□
Are there any Cisco ASA specialization certifications that aren't necessarily geared towards CCSP?

Can someone post a link to a list of specialization certs? Where is Mike, the specialization master?

I'm thinking about going after a WAAS specialization and ASA specialization, before I get back on the CCNP track.
There is no place like 127.0.0.1 BUT 209.62.5.3 is my 127.0.0.1 away from 127.0.0.1!

    Cisco Firewall Specialist

SNPA - Securing Networks with Pix and ASA
SND - Securing Cisco Network Devices

Both are part of the CCSP track though...... but done together gets you the CFWS :)

I think the Specializations are mentioned (and linked) on the main Cisco Certification and Career Path web page -- but I prefer the Exams by Certification tab that shows the Certification/Specialization and the Exams. The other tabs are Exams by Number and Exams by Name.

For those who have taken the SNPA, was it a monster of a test?

It looks like a ton of material with a high level of difficulty. ON a cisco difficulty level, where would you rank it? ON a scale from 1 - 10.......

Never did this test but I think it's time well spent. PIX was certainly a gap in the old CCNP portfolio, as was firewalls generally really and they are very important to any network engineer.

I took the previous version and while doing them I thought it and the IPS exam were the toughest but considering that the IPS was the one I had least exposure to by far at the time I think the SNPA is the hardest one from a neutral start. that said it's not impossible. No tricks or gimmicks during the exam you either just know it or you don't.
We responded to the Year 2000 issue with "Y2K" solutions...isn't this the kind of thinking that got us into trouble in the first place?

hmmm...it looks tough Thanks for the input guys. Yeah A.P.A when you get around to it, post something legal.

But being an engineer and also having firewall specialist certifications could easily put one in the market for a hefty raise or a move up and on.
