What does your work machine consist of?

Right now on this desk im working off two P4 2.66GHz beasts with 512MB of RAM!!

Bow down to my power!!

[Edit - I lied one has a P4 3GHz and 1GB of RAM! *faints* /Edit]

I mean they are only two of the PCs here (others are better) and its only IT Support why would we need good machines??

P4 3GHz with 1 GB ram for the primary and the secondary is a P4 2.2Ghz with 1 Gb ram. So not too different from your set up! Both are Gateway machines.

Custom-built Core2Duo e6600, 4gb ram, dual 250gb SATA2 in RAID1 (WD or Seagate), generic graphics, Vista 32 (I know, only 3.25gb ram usable

I mean we work in the furthest away office and when its the night shift its known for guys to scurry out and come back with arms full of things and create all sorts of contraptions, not always computers.

HP DC7700 SFF E6400 2GB. Its actually the most powerful desktop in the entire place >< Most people are on old HP/Compaq SFF P4s with teeny tiny amounts of memory.

None of them really need anything powerful however. The most demanding application they run locally is actually Office. Everything else is server based.

Does a IBM p5 570 count as my work machine if nobody else uses it?

MacBook Pro 2.4 Ghz w/4GB RAM

Running Chicken of the VNC to access:

Two custom built "servers" with E4500's and 2GB RAM. Currently both have Server 2003 installed.

One of these is about to become a Windows Home Server with 2x1TB WD drive.

The second one is about to host HP's Project and Portfolio Management once my business partner figures out how to get a license. I'm going to keep the Server 2003 partition, as well as add an XP Pro partition. I have a random need for unrestricted access to a mainframe so I'm about to install Hercules on the XP partition.

Plus - A third machine that was my desktop until my recent purchase of the MacBook Pro. It is a custom built in an Antec 900 case. E6600, 2GB RAM, 2x320 GB HD's, BFG/NVIDIA 8800 GTX 768 MB RAM PCI-e. This one is currently offline and is about to be for sale....Anyone interested?

I'll have to see if I can dig up the Benchmarks for my workstation. They were completely retarded.

Anyhow, to recap:

When I had Vista 64 I had 5.9s across the board with the exception of the video card which only managed a 3.4.

Well when I work I usually work from home so I have a decent setup.

M2N32SLi Deluxe Wireless Edition motherboard
8GB DDR2
2 Geforce 7600GTs in 16x SLi when I want it
4 500GB SATAII in RAID5
1 500GB SATAII hard drive
2 250GB SATAII hard drives (yes there are 7 hard drives in my box, I am a packrat)
Digital/Analog TV Tuner
Dual boot with Gentoo 64 and WinXP 64bit
and the best part...... An old school trackball HP mouse and an IBM model M keyboard.

And some other stuff, but that is the jist of it. I used to do a lot of programming from home so I built something that I could work on and entertain myself with at the same time.

Oh and the laptop is an eeePC. The 4GB hard drive one with the webcam.

It will be soon unless I can find someone that just wants to buy it (as I was able to do recently with my Toshiba laptop). Shipping this thing is probably going to suck.

1.4 celeron, 512 ram and 10gig hard drives with wireless B for my laptop. Probably a thousand of those in production now.

My desktop is a 1.8ghz p4, 256ram and 20gig hd.

We have.. oh. 8,000+ of these desktops in production at work. Wonder why we are not upgrading to Vista?
