Buying first Laptop...HElp! UPDATE

Hi guys,
finally got the money together

, to buy myself my very first laptop

!
was searching for the last month or two and i think a have found my match

i will use it mostly for playing with security tools, using vmware, not really playing games,...

so if anybody has any experience about problems and things like that, suggestion, advice, would appreciate, thx guys

It's about $100 more (with no OS), but includes a real graphics card, much better CPU, and a 9-cell battery. I'd encourage you to spend $100-150 more after that and get the 1680x1050 resolution and the 7200rpm drive. The upgrade from 2-4gb is only $60, so you might want to look at doing that as well. Really solid machine.

I have a laptop with the resolution you're looking at, and it sucks. If you want to do VMs, look at a 7200rpm drive and consider 4gb of ram.

I gotta say -- make sure you get a laptop that you can stand the feel of. The first laptop I bought was a monster, spec-wise, but I hated the keyboard and where the mouse was located and it weighed 10 pounds.

Go to Costco or Sams Club if you have one. I personally like the Dell XPS.

I'd probably go for a more powerful processor, but thats just me.

+1 to the higher resolution

i've had my first and last tiny, powerless but ultra-ish-portable notebooks i think.

In my experience, you can't go wrong with a Lenovo. Everyone will have a bias towards one or another but for me, Lenovo has been the best.
