Home Lab VoIP on the CHEAP...?

Hi Guys,

I'm new to VoIP and want to integrate a bit of VoIP into my home lab so I can start to learn about it. I haven't got much more money to spend on my lab so I was hoping I would at least be able to get some sort of VoIP services going, even if just on the LAN initially (I don't have an FXO interface as yet, and I wouldn't know which one to buy anyway...).

Here's what I have at the moment:

CCM5.1 running as a VMWare virtual instance

I dont even have an IPPhone atm, but was hoping to initially use a free (trial) softphone such as IP Blue VTG, i thought it would be cool to get it working on the softphone first, then invest in a handset of two.

Anyway, I hope you guys can help with a few pointers in the right direction, or point out anything obvious you see missing in my hardware list, thanks a lot people!

Check out the Voice Hardware Compatibility Matrix to get an idea of what voice hardware is available and the routers it works in. That's the first link in the Hardware Documentation Links section of the CCVP FAQ.
