Basic IT Resume

Is there a standard resume format that seems to be more effective when applying for IT / Networking positions.

I have been working in another technical field. I want to convey my skills as an Avionics Tech as being compatible with my network training. What are some ways that I can show 'experience' with out real 'experince' working in IT...

there is not basic resume for IT, your resume needs to directed at a certain field or job that your applying. better is a resume that summarizes your skills and what your capable of doing so that it doesn't require constant changing

Maybe I am over-thinking this but...

What can I list as experience and not sound too corny?

I have been repairing PCs for over 5 years at home for friends and paying customers. I have been working with NT/2K for 4 years now. The IT field took a DIVE here in Dallas just about the time I finished MCSE 2000 classes. I do alot of on -site repair for paying customers in their homes. I have experience but not in a corperate environment. Does this count?

Does 2 years at home and in class count as 2 years or 1 yr etc..
