VMWare is a hot certification nowadays.. lots of people are using it and lots more are going to use it. I was told about this by a friend, so I did a little research. There are a few levels of this, but from what I have read, a candidate has to sit three classes just to take the cert. However, these three classes costs more than $10,000..
Has anyone heard about this? If so, am I correct?

Only 1 of the 3 classes is required (you can choose although I&C is the one that maps to the exam content and should be your choice). -

VMWare is one of those certs, from what I've been told, that you really need to have some hands-on if you want to do well on the exam. I'd also say that you should get some server and server OS hands-on prior.IT guy since 12/00
Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands... -

All the replies before mine are correct.
$2995 for the four day I&C course, $175 for the exam.
You could possibly get by if you're really good at memorizing the course book, but even a few months worth of experience will make things a lot easier (and useful in real world situations).
Being familiar with Fibre Channel & iSCSI SANs, HBA's, and NFS NAS will be a major help. Command line Linux familiarity is a plus but not necessary for daily operations.Help eradicate blood cancers with a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. -

Basically "all" you need is the documentation downloadable from vmware.com ....
Thats A LOT OF stuff to read - but its all in there ..
Only downside is really the mandatory course ... well not sure if this is a downside .. but necessary
