ext3 overhead ?

Is there a way to calculate the overhead when formating partitions in ext3 ?

For example :

Filesystem            Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1             996M  266M  678M  29% /

This was set to 1024MB during the installation ...
