What ciscokits should I buy for just basic passing CCNA?

Hi all:

I checked ciscokits.com and there are 2 kinds: 8/8 and 16/16 router and a switch.

1.http://www.ciscokits.com/cisco-dual-2501-router-1924-ccna-kit/

2.http://www.ciscokits.com/cisco-dual-2501-1900-switch-ccna-kit/

Which on is the best for me to use for CCNA lab and for future lap as CCNP? Or I just need 2 router only, no switch? or must I need a switch?

3. cheap option http://www.ciscokits.com/cisco-dual-2501-8-8-router-ccna-kit/

Please give me some advice as you're all have experience using them. Thanks very much in advance.

Neither. For switches you want at least a 2950 as this has the featrue/command set that is used on the exam. As for routers, 2501's would be fine for the CCNA. Also, 16/16 is best.

You mean if I want to buy, buy switch 2950 not 1924? This option is good correct? Dual 2520 16/16 Router & 1924 Switch CCNA Kit.

    Thanks

No, that is not a good option. If read through the FAQ you will see what gear is recommended for the exam.

Cisco kits wasn't a great option when that equipment was being used. They are pushing those 19xx switches which are not used in the real world or on the CCNA.

You are gonna need at least one 2950 maybe more. I cut corners and used a 2924 for some of the labs, but later had to buy a 2950 anyway.

19xx series switches are useless, don't bother with them. Look for 2950 switches on in your local area like craigslist or ebay. http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites

While you're waiting or shopping around, use Packet Tracer to do some of your labs. Just message me if you aren't in NetAcademy and want a download link.

2950 is better but I may be just hold on it because of limited budget. I think I will buy 2 2520 and 1 2924 for now. Anyway, thanks for all your comments and tips and if there is a better idea please let me know. I appreciate your time.

Get a 2950 instead of a 2924. The 2900XL series has some commands which have a slightly different syntax to what is on current switch IOS versions.
