did the reqs for MCSA:SEC change or did Microsoft screw up?

I got an email from Microsoft this morning congratulating me on my newly earned MCSA, shortly after I got another one congratulating me on my MCSA:Security!
Now as I understand it I need 5 exams - including 2 security exams for the specialization.
here are the table headers from http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcsa/security/windowsserver2003.mspx and I listed the exams that I have done
Core exams on networking systems (both are required)
70-290 & 70-291
Core exams on client operating systems (choose one)
70-270
Security exams (choose two)
Security+

here is a section from my microsoft transcripts

    Hmm, that's weird.

    Question for you:

I took the Sec+ yesterday. Prometric has my pass record, but they haven't updated ComTIA yet. I guess they want to take the full 5 days:). Once CompTIA has it, and I submit it to Microsoft, how long does it take to show up on my record?

    Thanks.

When I submitted my CompTIA certs to Microsoft it only took 1 or 2 days for them to update my Microsoft transcripts. I sent my CompTIA information in as soon as I was an MCP.

This happened to me a while back too, and I was confused as well.

I emailed Microsoft to confirm, and sure enough, they confirmed that I had met the requirements for the MCSA: S.

Here is a look at my transcript. They got the date wrong for the Security+ but no worries. Won't matter years from now.

That's probably it. Since A+/N+ satisfies MCSA electives, it must be a bug in their system allowing it for the :Security designation. If anyone wants to confirm, just send me $300 and I'll go take my A+ test. icon_twisted.gif

Looking at the cert planner on the MCP site, check the security group for the MCSA:Security. Core1: A+ and Network+ and Core2: Security+, seems to satisfy the 2 required security components.

I tried to look but I keep getting not authorized errors on both FF and IE... Strange that they would not have posted the "hidden" reqs anywhere else :P sneaky sneaky!

Looking at the Certification Planner on the Microsoft MCP site it would appear that any two of the following exams/certifications meet the criteria for the MCSA: Security on Windows Server 2003

    - 70-227 ISA 2000
    - A+ and Network+
    - Security+
    - 70-299 Implementing and Administering Security in a Win2K3 Network
    - 70-350 ISA 2004
    - CISSP
    - CISA
    - CISM
    - SSCP
    - 70-351 ISA 2006

Wow! I'm surprised that with all the extra exams that they aren't posted anywhere else. I managed to get it working on a different computer and took a look at the MCSE:SEC and the A+ and Net+ also count as requirements! looks like it paid off in the end for my CompTIA exams!

The way I understand it, in order to meet the MCSA: Security requirements you only need ONE Security exam. However to meet the MCSE: Security requirements you need TWO (which the Security+ counts as one of the two).

I passed the Security+ exam yesterday and hoping they update my records as SOON as possible.

Now, I've only got four more exams left......yikes. Working on 70-298

Here is a screen-shot from the the certplanner on the mcp website, it shows that both security requirements have been fulfilled using my comptia certs

They seem to have corrected this now. Security group - core 1 now says A+ and Security+ again. Which is still kind of stupid, because core 2 is just Security+.

    MCSA_security_requirements-1.jpg

This is what they show now. I wonder if you have A+ and Security+ to satisfy Core1, will it also trigger Core2 since it is only Security+?
