CCENT exam

I've been reading the Cisco Press book for CCENT 640-822 and was considering the CCENT Exam Cram and some flash cards as well. I read a few posts about CBT Nuggets and thought $300 for it is above my budget. My Company is sending me to CCENT Bootcamp in two weeks, so I have just a little time to prepare. I have 10 years of Telecom experience and about 1 year of data. I work for a company as a Network Specialist and know my way around basic Cisco configs, but have a lot to learn.

Anyone with experience taking the the 640-822 exam have advice on what study tools I should use before the bootcamp? Brain ****, books, online sites etc.

You aren't going to find any **** here. We actually learn the material, not simply **** our way through exams.

Check out Transcender, PrepLogic, etc. if you're looking for legitimate practice exams.

I have actually decided to write my paper in class on braindumps. Should be a interesting article.

This is the one most people here think of when they hear the term braindump:

Isn't that kind of mean to the leaches? And why end the suffering of the dumpers after 10 days? I'd think just leaving them there would be a win-win situation for both us and the leeches.

You are lucky to have your company behind and send you to bootcamp why not go is it free to study right? So you don't have to buy CBTnugget $300.00 why waist you know what I'm saying. Look, for my case I have to spend $300.00 on CBTnugget and no doubt about it. Don't ever think about braindumps stuff, It will not only low your brain down, will low your soul away from eduction as well.

Most likely you already realize this from the posts above, but we don't promote braindumps here and you won't get any help from anyone if you ask for them.

Braindumps are bad for multiple reasons.

First, is that most of them are actual test questions. This is equivalent to sneaking into the teachers office and stealing the final with answers. Not good.

Second, many times the answers they give are incorrect.

Third, and this can be said with a lot of practice tests, you end up memorizing the answer location (A,B,C,D, etc.) or the answer, rather than learning -WHY- and -HOW-.

With certifications value being that we PAY for the exam, spend countless hours studying our asses off, and taking a test that can be located hours away that can help our chances of a job or a higher paying position. People that use braindumps and pass the exam end up getting a job, yet don't know the material and can't utilize the skills being tested, just give the certification a bad rap. Employers will not know who used braindumps and who didn't, so they don't put much value in the certification anymore. And all our hard work and money become worthless... Not to mention, if you get caught or turned in for using them, you get stripped of your cert for life... I've met sys admins that have a few certs all obtained with braindumps. They seem to come and go at different employers. They are expected to know what they are doing, but they didn't. On the job training can only happen if you can keep the job and not screw things up right away!

So, you can see why people get very upset with the mention of braindumps. A better idea is to study your ass off with legal ways, stay away from braindumps, and take the exam. You'll feel better that you passed without cheating, you'll know your stuff, and your peers will think better of you. And you'll be on track for the next certification (CCNP, CCIE).

A lot of people see sites with braindumps, and there are people say to use them, so a lot of certification newbies don't see the dark side of them. At least these forums aren't as cut throat as a lot of others I've seen!

Good luck in your studies and your exams.

On a side note: this is another reason I'd like to see more simulations on the cert exams. At least enough to where it can be the difference between pass and fail.

I concur. I think simulations are the way of the future for certification exams, at least anything beyond entry level. In a way, I like the Cisco approach. I wonder when they'll implement the photo ID's at my test center.

In addition while going back on topic, you'll want one or two books. Most people here on TE use the Sybex and/or Cisco Press. I used the Sybex personally, thought it was a relatively easy read. Just need reinforcement of the subject materials by using additional sources like another book, video, labs, practice questions, and flash cards. Best of luck dude!
