routing and routed

Hi guys,
just wondering if some one could explain the difference between routing and routed. Apart from the ing and ed please. icon_lol.gif

    A routing protocol is the logic that determines how to get from point A to point B and the best path to get there (RIP, IGRP, EIRGP, etc.).

    A routed protocol is one that provides addressing for the routing protocol to use (IP, IPX, Appletalk, etc.).

    Also routing is communicating between routers, and routed is within the router i believe... or it could be the other way around?
