Printing problem

This has me confused

A user in the company is trying to convert a .mpp (MS Project Standard 2002) file to .pdf. It starts off fine, she gets the converting progress box, but then instead of converting, it prints out to the LAN printer.

Actually I have no idea about this. Googling this hasnt yielded much. I have reinstalled the PDF printer, and this is happening only for her, no one else. Any pointers anyone? We use XP SP2 on the clients. This has only started happening now.

Is she using a something similar to CutePDF writer? Open an application, select print and point it to the CutePDF instead of the default printer.

I've used PDF Creator in circumstances like these: http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/

Why don't you try removing the printer its printing to and reinstalling it. Maybe just reinstall whatever app you're using for PDF "printing".

Did you get it fixed?

At times, you may encounter problems when printing a PDF file. For example, a PDF file can contain damaged content such as images or fonts that cannot be rendered by Acrobat during the printing process. Choosing Print As Image bypasses that rendering operation by sending the printer a rasterized image of the document.

To print as image:

Open the PDF file in Acrobat.
Choose File > Print.
Click Advanced.
Select Print As Image near the top of the dialog box.
Click OK, and then click OK again to print.

Sorry for the delay in posting the reply folks, it was just waaay too busy. My baby, WSUS, was crying, needed its diapers changed...An ex-boss of mine would say, God created sh!t and Microsoft created WSUS....

Anyways, I did exactly what bjaxx said and it worked. Well, no offence to you mate, this was too much for the user to grasp, she's one hell of a jackass. Wonder how these people are able to hold on to their positions

In the end, you know when you right click a .mpp file or any file for that matter, she gets two options, one says "convert to pdf" and the other one says "convert to pdf and email". Now she was using the first one. It just struck me to get her to use the second option. Guess what, it did the trick. Although she needed to get rid of the new email message that popped up with it, but the .mpp file got converted to .pdf and that's all she cares.

O boy, am I glad to have her out of my way...
