I am confused, I'm an MCSE?

What do I do? Should I call microsoft or just wait a while longer? Or should I just take my elective exam anyways?

I would take the extra exam anyways.....you were planning on doing it. I would hate to tell a prospective employer that you are an MCSE and then have Microsoft correct their mistake so that when the employer checks your transcript it says that you are not.

Yeah, I was planning on taking 70-401 anyways. If nothing else it'll make me sleep better at night. And give me MCTS: SCCM 2007.

It looks good to me. You should be MCSE. The 297 can be used as an elective for the MCSE. For MCSE, I don't know if you have to go to microsoft.com to request it to make it official.

70-297 CAN be used an elective. It's under the "Elective exams (choose one)" section. If you check the number 3 footnote at the bottom of the page at http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcse/windows2003/default.mspx
it states "3Exam 70-297 and Exam 70-298 can each count one time toward a core design exam or an elective exam, but not both."

exactly! thats why i was surprised when i got the email.

im using 297 as a design exam i havent taken any other design exams. it appears as if microsoft is count 297 twice, for design and for elective.

And since he is using the 297 as a core exam, he doesn't have a qualifing elective. Which is why it is weird.

They maybe counting the comptia certs as elective even though it says sec+ on the site maybe things are changing. I would check with them by giving them a call to make sure.

By core I meant *required exam. This would be his required design exam. Sorry for the confusion.

Yeah it is confusing. I know you can use the combo of A+ and Net+ for an elective for the MCSA. It says that on the website. So I believed that if you had the MCSA, and passed 293, 294, and 297 which can be used as an elective, that you'd be MCSE. I could have misunderstood the requirements section though. It'd be safe just to get ahold of Microsoft about this.

Hmm...it's there one mine. Maybe they take certifications off after you obtain them, which would make sense because why would you plan on taking a certification that you already hold.

Ah well, it technically doesn't change things. I'll take the elective anyways just tomake sure I'm legit.
