Vista x64

I just bought an extra 4 gigs of memory for my PC and now I need to upgrade to x64 to take advantage of it. I know that my license works for both 32 and 64 bit, but is there any way to get my hands on the 64 bit disc besides ordering it direct from MS? If not, does the Microsoft Action Pack include the 64 bit disc? I'm going to order that in the next few days and don't want to spend the $15 to get the 64 bit disc from MS if its included in the MAP.

Do you have a 64-bit machine with an x64 CPU? You can't run a 64-bit OS on 32-bit hardware.

Yeah, its a pretty recent machine. Just built it last year with a Core 2 Duo.

What's the make/model of the motherboard and processor? Building a "recent machine" doesn't ensure that it's x64.

All Core 2 Duos are 64 bit, so you'll be fine.

That's actually a very nice mobo/cpu combination.

And after checking MS' Web site, it looks like x64 Vista is included in the Microsoft Action Pack. I use Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 at work and I've never had a problem with it.

Running Ultimate X64 SP1 with a Q6600 @ 3.5GHz and 8GB PC8500 RAM.

I'm very happy with it.

I just replaced yesterday my old Dell GX280 XP box with a custom build of ASUS M3A78-EM + Phenom x4 9850 + 4GB RAM + Vista Home Premium x64.

I like it. I like to squeeze every last drop out of my personal computer before I do something else, but I can't say I miss the ol' clunker.

Action pack should include a Vista Business x64 DVD, received mine a long time ago in one of the updates so I assume they would include it in new orders.

Also running Vista Ultimate x64 here on a E8400 with 8GB RAM. Works exceptionally well if you take the time to work out any slight quirks that might crop up with Vista instead of nagging about the OS like many Vista haters. Handles everything I need it to just fine which is mostly heavy VM use, editing HD video of our little boy and minimal gaming.

Can you maybe just download the eval and change the key ?

Also, you can install vista without a key so I don't think there would be any harm if someone here would send you an iso or is it ?

I been running 64bit Vistal Ultimate SP1 for a few months now. Bumped it up to 8GB a couple of weeks ago. It works a charm most of the time and very good for vmware lab. Only problem ive ever had with vista so far is power sleep state being interrupted unexpectedly.

I experience similar issues .. Sometimes I even get a blue screen when waking up
