BSCI Next Monday - EDIT : Passed!!

Well

Time is drawing to a close on my BSCI studies.

So far I feel very confident with EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, Router based DHCP.

I need some slight review on Multicast, and IPv6 (remembering all the various types of addresses)

Bit more work required with BGP, though it's just a routing protocol like the other three.. so it shouldn't be that hard.

Materials used so far: -

Cisco BSCI Exam Book
CCIE TCP/IP Routing (not a lot, but some)
BSCI Lab Portfolio + GNS
CBT Nuggets BSCI

Should be OK, I hope!!

After I've had an incredibly crappy day at work, my reviewing went to pot and and scoring badly on practice tests.

Confidence! We're both gonna pass our exams and celebrate all Christmas! (Of course, there is still time to reschedule if you absolutely think you have to!)

I'd say just pick your weakest area today and hit it hard. At the end of the day, do another practice exam...take your next weakest area and hit that hard. Rinse and repeat until monday. You know your stuff, gorebush!

How do you guys pronounce ISAKMP?

I-S-A-K-M-P, I use ISA-KAMP just because of all the letters in the acronym

At first, I thought it was like Isis, the goddess. However, later readings revealed that what you wrote is how it's "supposed" to be pronounced. I like mine better though

Is there a website that lists pronunciations for IT acronyms/mnemonics? This seems like very valuable information, which could potentially help people avoid some embarrassment in the field

you just gotta throw the 2 in there, I don't know why but it just annoys me when there isn't one. I mean honestly, how does "intermediate system - intermediate system" make sense?

It would be kind of fun to call up TAC sometime and then intentionally pick the most rednecked pronunciation of terms you can think of. Of course, I'm not sure what kind of support you'd end up getting!

Yeah, I'm tryin' to set up this heeere router to do OsssPifff and it just ain't workin'. Ya think I should just switch to EyeSis instead or try EyeGrip?

You would be surprised sometimes the people at TAC sound like that!

I have to work with Cisco TAC all the time. They are not always the smartest fellars!

Passed with 855

Time for a beer.

Cisco exams are fair, I'll say that. I was weak at multicasting (67%) and the mark fairly justifies that.

All others were 80%+ and a 70%

Considering taking a week off now until the new year (As i've been studying pretty much flat out since June)

Schedule then :-

BCMSN - End Feb
ISCW - End Apr
ONT - End Jun

out of interest did it take you six months for the bsci?

No, it took me 7 weeks - Whoa, didn't think it was that quick.

This year I've done: -

March - Vista MCTS
June - I changed jobs
September - CCNA
October - Exchange 2007 MCTS
December - BSCI
