Should I Try For Server+
Doire
Hello,
I have A+ and N+.
I currently work in desktop support. Im based at a large production site but im getting bored with it.
I'd like to move into networking. Should i try for Server+ as a stepping stone?
Then whats a good move after that? MCSA, MCSE?
Thanks

The Server+ isn't going to do a lot for you career/resume-wise, but it's good information if you're not familiar with the material.
I'd move on to MS or Linux, based on your interest, after that.

I agree. it may be a good inform guide. However in all the job postings I have come across I have not ONCE seen a request for Server+.

dangit i was thinking about getting my server+ after network+
what if your career is going towards SAN~?? like storage networking etc
what it be good~?

The Server+ is essentially the server version of the A+.
If you want to get into storage, your best bet is to go with vendor-specific certs for whatever you're working with. If you want vendor-neutral certs, check here:

So should i just go directly to MCSA or MCSE?
Thanks

That's the route to take if you're interested in administering Microsoft networks.
Depending on your level of experience, you may wish to start with the MCDST (which counts as an MCSA elective) and finding a help desk position first.

MCDST is good course, But he does not need it since he already has A+ and Network + which also count as an elective.
Network+ Certification, Server+ Certification, MCSA

I work with SAN a lot, and I found Server+ to be useful. It contains basic information about storage that any SAN specialist should know.
Also, keep in mind that for you to work with SAN, it's really important to know the basics of servers, tape drives, operating systems...etc.
I recommend Server+ as a basic knowledge. If you happen to support HP Storage or IBM storage then Server+ is a pre-requisite to any training/certification.
Good luck
