Cant install java on vista

EdTheLadEdTheLad Member Posts: 2,111 ■■■■□□□□□□
When i run the installer it freezes at "java installer is being downloaded, please wait." window.
I have to use task manager to kill it.I've also had similar problems with the standalone package.
Any ideas?
Networking, sometimes i love it, mostly i hate it.Its all about the $$$$

Check the group policy settings for IE (or just IE settings if not using Group Policy).

    Might be this one:

Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer > Internet Control Panel > Security Page

Expand Security Page and under each zone folder you will see an entry of 'Turn on Protected Mode'. Double click the entry, change it to 'Enabled' and change the setting of 'Protected Mode' to 'Enabled'.
All things are possible, only believe.

It is possible it might just be your system acting up. Try installing Java in Safe Mode if sprkymrk's fix doesn't work.
