Pictures are a bit blurry (iphone doesn't really do good close ups), but I think you get the picture :)

This is big mama (Red Knee Tarantula) :

And this is "big" papa (Chili Rose) :

:O I am sooo lucky that I didn't start running out of my room screaming.
    I'm not fond of spiders.

Do you have any other pets?
    Booya!!

Knowing these forums, I was pretty sure your "pets" were going to be routers or something. :)

I guess not! Not a bad pet though, pretty low maintenance.
  • laidbackfreaklaidbackfreak Member Posts: 991
nice fella icon_smile.gif not a massive fan of them as pets always figured they were fairly high maintenance.

I used to work with the RSPCA and rehomed reptiles (mainly snakes but the odd lizard) at one point I had around 50 snakes and a couple of lizards....

I dont have any at the moment for various reason but do miss them.
if I say something that can be taken one of two ways and one of them offends, I usually mean the other one :-)

I used to have cats, but since I moved from Gibraltar to the UK I only have a one bed room apartment so I don't really want to keep anything like that here .. besides, I am not allowed to keep cats or dogs here ..

LOL - My rental contract says "No cats, dogs or birds allowed" ... doesn't say anything about spiders LOL ..

I've got a pink toed tarantula, myself. And a yellow rat snake. And an emperor scorpion. Two turtles... Then the mandatory cat and 3 dogs (chihuahua, chi-weenie, and Pug). And a guinea pig. And hamster.

You have some beautiful animals there, man. Are they pretty calm as far as handling? Mine is really friendly, but she's just a baby still. Small for a tranny, but still bigger than anything around here (Eastern Oregon).

The Chili Rose is a gental giant ... very easy to handle .. I did not handle the Red Knee though .. took me 20 minutes to get it into the enclosure .. they like to flick hairs which I don't really want :) That is kinda the reason I bgouth two ... one I could handle, and another "looks nice" one :)

If you get a half-way decent molt, there's a couple write ups out there on how to put it back together and preserve it so it's fairly real looking. Great way to scare the heck out of people :D

Got a nice close-up ... might not be for everyone's stomach (therefore just a link rather than the picture tag) :)

Molts? LOL too funny. Had a biology teacher place one on my arm when I wasn't looking, freaked me out. He laughed hard and fell off his lab chair.

People who do such a thing must think about the consequence :) Moults are nice looking and most people would try to smash it as a reaction .. so if they want to risk it :)

Look's more like a "Fluffy Bear" to me.... but if Spiders are like Cats, you won't know until they actually come (or at least look at you) when you call their name. :D

Even after making it through halfway of the "Encyclopedia Dramatica Offended Challenge" (I couldn't finish it), I'm still shuddering after looking at those two pictures. Yeah I don't like spiders. I'd probably scream like a little girl if I saw one of those crawling through my house.

No thanks. I've killed many of your new pets cousins...I'm afraid if those were in my house they'd steal my wallet and tie me up.

For something you can't cuddle or converse with, I'd say that's a rip off. icon_lol.gif

Ooops. I meant Black LIGHT sensitive. ><

My cousin is a collector of exotic pets, and my sister almost bought him one. Thing is that he is deathly afraid of spiders. lol.
