Hi,
I hope to become a information system security specialist one day.
Someone recommended taking CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, CCENT, MCSA, and finally CCISP.
In order to become a system security specialist, do I have to begin my career off as a Help Desk person? I'm not good at dealing with customers but want to work in IT behind the scene.
Any suggestions?
Recommendations?

If you don't currently have an IT job, I'd try to land one. It may be help desk, it may be something else. Focus on getting your foot in the door. Then work towards a network or systems administration position, depending on what your interests are.
If you do some Cisco work, go for the CCNA and possibly CCNA: Security. The CCENT is pretty weak.
Also, if you're just starting out, you might want to consider starting with the Server 2008 exams. -

Laptop, Im in a similar situation as you where I also would like to break into the security field. I started out with a summer internship and a small workstudy position at my schools help desk. I now have several certs and work as a Junior Network Admin and hope to have my BS in IT - Network Administration in the next year.
I really recommend that you get yourself a job in the field just to get in the door then move towards your goal. Consider some certs and maybe even a college degree.
