book recommendation?

Anyone got any recommendations for an up to date book that focuses in depth on cisco troubleshooting,debugging,and logging or at least one with a pretty sizable chunk allocated to it instead of a few generic lines?

Best practices etc............

You posted in the NP section, what specifically are you looking for, routing, switching, QOS, VPN, MPLS, etc.... it is a broad question you have asked.

Troubleshooting IP Routing Protocols is very good. It's part of the CCIE series from cisco press.

It may also be worth it to find an old copy of http://www.ciscopress.com/bookstore/product.asp?isbn=1587050765]Troubleshooting Remote Access Networks -- another old CCIE Professional Development book.

You could try to find an copy of the old CCNP Self-Study book for the CIT exam -- Cisco Internetwork Troubleshooting.

But even back then for the specifics of the show and debug commands you had to go back to all the other books for the other exams. I used to suggest....

If you forget everything after taking an exam, and just read the CIT Exam Study Guide, you'll probably find it hard (and fail).

While the CIT has its own exam blueprint, it really can cover anything troubleshooting related from the other 3 exam topics (that can be wedged into the CIT blueprint topics) and the new fluff from CIT. If you don't remember the show and debug commands (and their output) from the first 3 exams topics, you'll have lots of problems with this exam.

There are also a few new Cisco Press books for troubleshooting specific things like VPNS, Network Security, IP Telephony (the old IPTT book), etc....

The best place to find troubleshooting information would be in the Cisco Documentation and the Cisco Web Site -- and google to find the Cisco Support Wiki troubleshooting docs.
