Passed Linux+

gezzygezzy Member Posts: 12 ■□□□□□□□□□
Hi
I passed the exam today. I have been using linux on my home computer
for almost a year now and studied for this exam over the last 3 or so months.

The resources I used was the Sybex book, which I thought was very good, but
it didn't cover everything... but the things that were covered were explained well.
I also used the technotes here... but I did find them hard to read for some reason..
I also googled alot.

Just wanted to say thanks for the resources on this site, it was helpful.

Get them to go 64-bit and I would consider them.

    Congrats on your pass!

Hasn't Ubuntu been 64bit for quite a while? Correct me if I am wrong. I remember having 64bit Ubuntu back with 7.04, maybe that has changed.

Technotes posted here are outstanding, and at least in my view, not hard to follow at all. Definitely a great resource to prepare for future cert tests...

most distros have a 64bit release. heck, you can even get hercules and run a 64bit mainframe linux distro for free now.

I thought so, that's why I found the 64bit comment odd.

I believe the message was directly at the Mint distro mentioned by Dynamik. But it also has a 64-bit version. It just seems to lack stability.

congrats on the pass? i went to schedule linux+ test and it only shows the 2004 objectives, are the 2004 objectives good till years end?
  • janmikejanmike Member Posts: 3,076
The 2004 Linux+ exam will be in effect until CompTIA retires it, and that will not happen until a month or two after the new 2009 version goes live. 2009 is supposed to be live by the end of the year according to news that was released a few months ago.
