Can only login using pre-windows 2000 logon name

I have a W2k3 Server dilemma. I'm working on an exercise in the MS Press book for 70-290 where I have to set up a preconfigured default user profile. The book instructs me to create an OU named employees and setup several user accounts. When I try to logon using the firstname.lastname convention with any of these accounts, it tells me the domiain is not available or the password is incorrect. When I use the pre-windows 2000 username for that account it lets me in. This is only affecting user accounts in this particular OU.

What gives?

When you log on with the normal account name, you have to append @domain.com after the user name. I'm not sure if you can change this as I haven't had the chance to mess around with 2K3 enough.

With the SAM name, you need only type the user name. No "@whatever.com"

    Thanks,

That worked. I've never had to login on any windows domain with the @ symbol and just never really thought about it. Ya learn something new every day.
