in CCNA & CCENT
Good Day,
I should have mentioned at first that this in preparation for the CCNA, so what i'll be using is a simulator and not actual routers.
I would like to setup DNS on a Cisco Router. For the ip name-server command what ip address should i assign? Should it be the ip address of an interface on the router or the ip address of the router itself ?
Also, What configurations should i make on other routers and host computers so that the translation can work with the router that i have set up DNS server on?
Complete details of the enter setup would be greatly appreciated even the smallest of details.
Thank You

You would just use the IP's of your ISP dns servers or whatever DNS servers you normally use. -

you can use 4.2.2.1 or 4.2.2.2 as they are reliable dns servers... You could use ISP dns servers but I find mine unreliable and figure why not use them as third or fourth DNS servers.CCNA, MCP, MCSA, MCSE, MCDST, MCITP Enterprise Administrator, Working towards Networking BS. CCNP is Next. -
