Windows 7 Gold locks solved! read!

itdaddyitdaddy Member Posts: 2,089 ■■■■□□□□□□
hey guys
I found the answer to the gold locks on my windows 7 machine.
I upgraded from XP to windows 7and I had some gold locks on my folders.
It would not let me into them. Windows 7 does this:

If you right click and go to security or permissions tab, it sets
Everyone to (deny all). All you have to do is log into as admin
of that machine and or click to allow all on that folder and bam
you can get into the locked folders. that is it problem solved.
for the life of me, I didnt know what to do but found the idea.
Hope this helps.

You should give skrpune a shout out for this, too. Skrpune suggested it via link in your original message. icon_wink.gif

EDIT: I also wanted to give my support for a Win 7 forum. I think with the MCTS having gone live and the desktop admin/support exams in beta it's time. Too many people are cross posting about them in the Vista and 2008 general forums. It seems no one really knows where to post messages for Win 7.

yeah, I figured it was something to do with permissions/sharing. I actually did my post after itdaddy made this new thread, so I was a little behind the ball on my response...that's what I get for not refreshing the new posts I guess. icon_sad.gif

I like that MS has finally fully embraced the concept of lease privilege.

Just giving you **** :) I have man hands too... I get a kick out of using my 10" netbook... the keyboard isn't all that bad though once you get used to it. It's nice for the quick lookup, etc.

I work with a dude that's about 6'5 and he has a 8 inch netbook. Watching him type on it is like watching the giant man get out of a Beetle on the Simpsons.

I too have man hands. I know the feeling. Might I suggest purchasing an apple keyboard. I am not a mac fan, but their keyboards are awesome. The keys are made for those people who... wear big gloves. Matter of fact, I'm typing on one now, and it was only $49.99 at your local BB.
