Ok so I want to get a usb drive and use truecrypt to encrypt it but I also want it to be password protected. As in when you plug it in and try to access anything on it it requires a password to view it. Can Truecrpyt do this. I have never used it before and just created a partition on my hd to test with and encrypted it but i want to be able to password protect it so that only if you know the password you can then read and access the data on it. Hope that makes sense. Thanks.

Optionsapena7 Member Posts: 351I haven't played around with TrueCrypt much, but I believe that you need it installed on the computer accessing the data. So if you encrypt a USB drive on your computer using TrueCrypt, add files to it, and take it to your friend's computer (who doesn't have TrueCrypt installed), then you won't be able to 'mount' it and view your files.
If someone wants to correct me on this, then feel free.Usus magister est optimus -
