A friend of mine told me that the Comptia exams will all be updated this year to reflect new technologies etc, does anyone know if this is true?

They have already been updated in 2003. There is no scheduled updating for A+ currently. You can find the objectives for A+
here
. Network+ is going for an update this year however. They have not officially announced the date the new exam goes live, but it has been speculated sometime mid-year, maybe June/July. The Net+(both current and new) objectives can be found
here

I'm not sure, I think it was updated for 2004. That site has all the official information for any Comptia stuff.
