Rhca

Anyone shooting for RHCA?

I'm likely going to be taking the courses for this in 2010 to mid 2011. Gonna be a rough ride.

Gotta get RHCE first, but RHCA is on my radar.

I'm shooting for RHCE too ! But I started music lessons last week, and I'm kinda obsessed....so God knows when I'm gonna get it over with.

I recommend you try The UNIX and Linux Forums - Learn UNIX and Linux from Experts & LinuxQuestions.org

you will find plenty of *NIX profs there, and probably some few RHCAs...my nickname in unix.com is "Sun Fire" :)

Just a personal question if you don't mind...Do you work for a Red Hat business partner ? and what kind of Red Hat work are you involved in ?

This is a high level Red Hat certification and needs in-depth and constant work with Red Hat...

Good luck ! you will be the first RHCA I know :)

SysAdmin for hundreds of RHEL servers. We're actually getting grants from Louisiana Gov't to fund the courses. We likely will get all the courses, but I doubt I'll pass all the exams the first time around.

    Good luck with that !

You are lucky to have such good exposure to RHEL servers.

I want to know, do you use RHEL cluster there ?? I'm just curious, I want to know how common RHEL cluster is...I saw it in a couple of Investment firms so far...

Nope, not at all. I haven't had any exposure to clustering. The servers we administer aren't really the type to need it.

Thanks for the good luck nod. When we get the courses approved and scheduled, I'll start making some posts about the courses I'm taking so anyone interested can discuss them as well.

I'll be following your posts closely then.

I'm preparing for RHCE...I'm not liking The Jang book at all...I'm referring to Red Hat's official "deployment guide" more often now...Jang book is just too brief IMHO.

I'm glad to hear that about Cluster...we really don't need another level of complication...specially that all the guys I know who have enough hands-on clustering are just little bit arrogant over nothing...

I agree on the Jang book. I think the great thing about his book, though, is the quality of the labs. For a person with little idea of the way the testing goes, they're good training.

When are you looking at doing the RHCE, or are you just learning the material now?

no I want to do the exam...I think as soon as I finish the material and feel confident enough. I'm planning to take the crash course then the exam...but I'm still preparing..I'll finish all the topics, then I'll take the time to do enough labs...I'm not in hurray at all
