Packet tracer.. connected switch to router & not working

Ok huh.. using Packet Tracer, got a switch connected to a router using a straight through cables and the two end point aren't green.

What I am doing wrong?

    Those are dissimilar devices, so you need to use a crossover.

    Re-think your logic Dynamik, I know that you know better than that. Like devices use a crossover and unlike(dissimilar) use a straight-through.

    What have you configured?

    Are you sure you configured an IP address on the correct router Ethernet port? Did you no shut the interface? Is the interface showing UP UP when you do a show ip interface brief.

    What about the switch port -- standard configuration? UP UP?

    I haven't used PT in a month or two, but from the scenarios I was given, a DTE cable was used. I don't know why, I haven't even seen one, yet.

    which lab are you doing? i know a couple of the labs in the WAN class lab book didnt all work right

    How did you determine "...not working...?"

    Try doing a "no shutdown" on the router interface.
