How to merge space in Disk Management

It's been a while since I've worked with disk management in Windows XP.
I deleted two logical drives and now one shows as "unallocated space" and the other shows as "free space". I want both drive space merged, so I can format them as one logical drive.
Any quick solutions?

Why can't you just completely remove both and create a new partition?
