Sharepoint (70-630)

Hey Guys,

Looking for an active forum were discussions of Sharepoint are like I said before active :D My work is looking to roll out SharePoint in the new year so I'm learning as much as I can now. Got CBT nuggets videos on it and will sit the exam in the new year also.

Well yeah back to the original point of the post I'd like a forum were I could talk about my ideas for my work and what will benfit us in the long run with productivity and ease of use.

Any help would be great!

Regards

I do not know of any active forums. But I would certainly be willing to participate in SharePoint related topics here.

Same here. I, too, am setting up Sharepoint at my office, and I would certainly be involved.

    Count me in too.

I recently had to install sharepoint at one of my clients, even though I know next to nothing about it. icon_sad.gif

That's great news! We could help each other :D

Currently facing me an annoying little issue. I have my admin account showing differently to what it used to be. I had it show "Welcome Admin" now its changed too "Welcome testing\administrator" minor issue I know but VERY annoying as all my other domain users are logging in with the "Welcome Joe Bloggs".

Other thing im looking into is adding a "phone book" per say for support numbers to software we use etc.

EDIT: On the CA it shows as "Welcome Admin" so you can hopefully see where the annoying part is coming from ;)

I just noticed Preplogic still has many Mega Guides on sale for $1, so I picked up the Sharepoint guide. I'm not sure how long this deal will last. It's very cheap starting point at least.

EDIT: It looks like this Mega Guide is geared for both 70-630 and 70-631.

I am new to sharepoint myself, currently using Sharepoint v3 with 2007 Designer, having a headache trying to setup a Document Control System.

    Congrats!

So...what else (besides CBT Nuggets and that preplogic Mega guide) did you use for study material? Was that Preplogic guide helpful? I am reading through the Share Point Server 2007 MS Press book along with the Mega Guide. The first 4 chapters in the Book are very boring and is mostly just about how to get every one on in the company on board. Blah, blah, blah. I realize that's important for the implantation to be successful.....but I'm having trouble keeping interest right now.

To be honest I used the CBT mainly as where I work I have two people that went on a course for this as we are bringing it into the work place. They were nice enough to set me up a VM machine at work and pretty much walk me through bits I needed to know were CBT didnt really go into.

Best thing I can say really is just full on mess around with it. With out giving anything away on the exam it was easy once you mess about with it (templates etc). But like I said because the technical team here were nice enough to let me sit in on their meetings and show me how they done it and answer any question I had it helped me alot. Plus with my VM if I do anything that will help them out in the long run they will copy my idea :D

Its abit boring but stick with it!
