Cable Modem acting weird!

Good morning all!

I have a strange one for you.

My cable modem sends and receives like crazy when it's completely unplugged from the network.

Now, I know that my cable company have scanners and monitors for their network, but would it really make my modem lights blink A LOT?

I'm worried that something is going out in it and it's destroying my internet.

I have noticed slowness while surfing the internet, downloading music and playing xbox live.

Could just be usual ISP traffic such as ARP, etc. If you are concerned, download wireshark and see what traffic is going across the interface.

That maybe the case, since I live in an apartment.

I'm going to call my cable company to see if they can run diagnostics.

It's caused by broadcast packets, mostly ARP. Run Wireshark and check yourself, it only takes a few minutes (and you might learn something
