josunin75josunin75 Member Posts: 44 ■■□□□□□□□□
i just bought 2621 router to plug into
our spare dsl line. since it had dsu-csu
card installed, i was wondering if i can
use that for dsl! i'm in nyc and we use
speakeasy. i'd never configured one of this
,so any help or pointer to website is greatly
appreciated. btw if i am to contact isp,
what kind of information would i need? also how
do i connect them? phone cable from dsl modem?
or straight from the wall jack.

thank you in advance.

a t1 and adsl are not the same thing, so that wic is probably useless to you. you'll be wanting something like a wic-1adsl instead

so if were to get this wic-1adsl card installed what kind of information I would need to configure the dsl setting on the cisco router? also by installing the adsl card, do I bypass the speakeasy modem?

    thanks again! :)

Yes, that's the general reason you'd purchase an ADSL wic, it's what interfaces with the providers network. And depending on the provider, it may or may not be compatible with them. I believe Speakeasy is. Some ISP's are deploying Cisco DSL routers as their CPE, however, so you may not need to.

Honestly though, rather than going through the hassle, I'd just call them up, find out what type of CPE they send out, and whether or not you can kick it into bridge mode. If you can, then don't bother with the DSL wic, just bridge the dsl modem to an ethernet interface on your router, and you're good to go.
