CCNA before CCNP?

qsubqsub Member Posts: 303
My goal is to get CCNP. Does it make any sense to study CCNA before CCNP?

I figure CCNP would contain the same information as CCNA but more, or more in depth.

Do you recommend going for CCNA before going for CCNA?

You are going to have to go for you CCNA first. In order to get your CCNP it is required that you be a CCNA. Check it out at this link http://www.cisco.com/en/US/learning/le3/le2/le37/le10/learning_certification_type_home.html

Besides the fact that a CCNA is a prereq, the CCNP assumes a certain level of knowledge. If you do not have any experience with Cisco equipment or internetworking, then you definetly want to start at the beginning.

Hmm, I thought I checked it before and thought CCNP didn't have a pre-req.
    But ok, thanks!

CCNA is a prereq for CCNP. You may be thinking of the CCIE. For the CCIE, you do not have to be NA, NP, or anything...you just have to be able to pass the written and the lab.
