can anyone explains this lines from a book i was studying ...scratching my head...so confusing

the redirector intercepts request made by the operator of the client computer which also determines if the request is for access to local resources or needs to be redirected on to the network to be serviced by another computer (server )...thanxs alot icon_sad.gif

Sounds like they made an effort to make it sound more complicated than it really is ;)

Basically, when you open Windows Explorer or My Computer on Windows XP for example, and you browse to a shared folder on a file server in the network, and you double-click on the file to open it, the Redirector forwards the request to the operating system of the file server, instead of the local OS.

"the operator of the client computer" can mean "a user", though a process as well.
