Stand by servers and clusters

Can someone make me clear the difference between stand by and clusters servers. What I understand is that stand by servers one is waiting for the failure of the other. In cluster both servers are working if one fail the other continue doing the job. Thank

i believe, someone please correct me if im wrong, a standby server has a longer failover time than a cluser server. A cluster can take over the work immediately wheras a failover has a little time required before total restoration of service?

also clusters can be used for parallelization whereas standby servers cannot.
