noob telnet question

doing a lab in the 70-642 MS Press Self paced training kit. I've installed telnet and have it running. The instructions say to type, at the command prompt telnet Binghampton
I get back that telnet is not recognized as an internal or external command etc...
What am I doing wrong? (or rather what's wrong in the book)

telnet isn't installed if you get that message :P

You need to install the telnet client on your system.

Go to control panel add or remove programs (or just programs if you are on vista/7) and then on the left side you want add or remove windows components. Install the telnet client and Not the telnet server.

On server 2k8 so it's add features and choose telnet client

there should be a service called telnet in services.msc you should turn that on.

Got it, you guys. Thanks. I should have looked at features and noticed telnet client missing.

yeah choose telnet client and it will install that then you can go to cmd and use the telnet command
