: Which one :
I'm planning on pursuing the CISSP. In one of the posts it was recommended to join an infoSec org and becoming an active member. Three organiztions were mentioned: ISSA, IIA, & ISACA. I was wondering if anyone had any input on which organzition would be best. Are they active? Meetings, activities, etc. Also, if anyone is in Hawaii and in an org that would be great to know too. Thank You for any repliies. ~show

OptionsJDMurray Admin Posts: 13,031 AdminIf you are an auditor, it would be good for you to join all three organizations and obtain the CISSP and CISA certifications. A manager of InfoSec programs would benefit from the CISM and CISSP certs and belong to both ISACA and (ISC)2. A non-manager who works in InfoSec, but not in auditing, would typically only join the (ISC)2 with a CISSP certification, but could be a member of ISACA as well. All InfoSec professionals everywhere should visit their local ISSA chapter meetings and consider becoming a member.

Optionsshowstoppermd Member Posts: 10 ■□□□□□□□□□Thanks JDMurray. I'm gonna head down to the local ISSA chapter. I found an old friend that is a member there and in ISACA. Looks like the ISACA is a more active organization here.
This will be an uncharted journey for me. People networking.
Oh well back to the books. Thanks again. -

What island are you on? It can be difficult to find IT pros, let alone people with infosec experience out there. I worked with a couple of clients on Hawaii and Oahu a few months ago.
