Passed today with a 81% Certainly not as high as I would have liked, but to be expected for the little studying that went into it. I was very surprised, as I expected an easier exam, based on what I had seen here, however, two effective days of studying was sufficient to pass, with prior experience.
I used the mcmcse guide to review, however, this could use an update as the review does not mention xhtml coding, which is... in the objectives. Luckly, I had a bad feeling about going tinto the test without looking over the objectives, and I went over to W3Schools to learn up on xhtml.
A decent amount of networking knowledge is beneficial.
All in all, I highly recommend this test, I found myself wishing I had the training material available, but when I went over my budget, I can afford it, while I am pursuing a GIAC cert, and car payments for a male -25
I think I will study for another CIW exam, the 1D0-470, Security Professional by default will eventually earn the Security Analyst designation. I hope to do that before I attempt the database design exam, required by WGU.

Congrats on passing!
The MCMCSE site is also good for the JavaScript course which you'll have to take at WGU. The W3schools is also a good place to get a little knowledge for these CIW exams.
You did that good without the books? I didn't do much better studying the books.No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives. -

I enjoyed the CIW Security Analyst exam.. I felt the preparation was overkill for the actual exam. It was worded very well unlike the old Security+. I like CIW better than Comptia personally. When I take a CIW exam, I feel like the exam actually consists of the Prosoft material I read instead of having to read 2 or 3 different books, and saying a prayer before going into the testing center that I get a question pool that actually talked about the material I read.Working On:

The JavaScript exam isn't required for BSITS is it?

Where did you get your test prep materials? I think its weird how CIW has only a limited amount of official prep material on their website. I just ordered a book today, the CIW Security Professional Cert Bible, it had good reviews. -

I checked and yes it is. It's required for every one of the IT programs but is one of those courses that get waived if you have an AS and in some cases an AAS.The JavaScript exam isn't required for BSITS is it?No longer work in IT. Thats very strange, its not listed as one of the certs on the page, unless they mandate it as your CIW Pro exam. In which case I think it is stupid to require Database Design as well. hmm, When I enroll, I'll have to inquire about this.

It's not a pro exam and isn't listed on the cert page because it's not a cert. You take the test but don't get a certificate. It just fulfills the requirement of a web programming language. The CIW site used to have it as one of the tests toward the Professional but that seems to have changed, now you only have to take the foundations and one professional test. You used to have to take foundations and then one of the web programming languages (JavaScript or Perl) along with the pro test.
I was just checking the courses you'll be taking in the Security emphasis and you still take the Database course, Site Designer course, and Java programming. The Java programming is a non-cert course (performance assessment where you turn in assignments) split into 2 courses. These 3 courses were dropped from requirements for the Network Design and Management curriculum in March 2010.No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives. -

I laughed too...funny how I feel the exact opposite though. (In terms of what I scored on both Sec+ and CIW Foundations.)
I will say this about CIW; the material you study for will actually be on the exam. However, and this is their sneaky little trick, it is a friggin LOT! If you go through the recommended 8-10 weeks or whatever and go through vCampus, yeah, you'll probably get a high score. As opposed to someone who's been in the field for awhile, he can walk in and pass (though the score may/may not be so high...but he'll pass).
