How would you rate this Cisco Kit?

From the ad:

- R2: 2610 Router 32D/8F with 1 Serial Port (WIC-1T card) + 1 Ethernet Port
- R3: 2610 Router 32D/8F with 1 Serial Port (WIC-1T card)+ 1 Ethernet Port
- R1: 2500 Router with 2 Serial Ports (Frame/Relay Switch)
- S1: 2900 Switch (12 Fast Ethernet Ports)
- S2: 2900 Switch (12 Fast Ethernet Ports)

It is a little more than I would like to spend ideally, but if it will be all I will need/want for a CCNA study kit, I think I can probably foot the bill. My current NOC job is really getting bad and I'm starting to think I might try to study for the CCNA again.

Thoughts on the price/value of this? Anything you would up or downgrade? Should I try and get individual routers instead?

The "exam-like questions" and "ebooks" in that eBay posting is enough to make me wonder about it.... and MODERATE the link.

2950 switches are going for around $30 each, so the only reason you'd want a 2900 switch would be for a 3rd switch -- and only if it was a 2924XL-EN for $10-15 (or less).

If you price out the routers on eBay (and bid patiently) you can do much better.... I've gotten 2651XM routers (dual FastEthernet) for $125 -- and the cheapest 2610XM (single FastEthernet) can be found for around $50.

I would say it's a bit high. The description lists router 2 and 3 as 2610's which I purchased for $30 each. My 2 2950 switches cost me $60 (24-port) and $35 (12-port). The 2 WICs were $25 each. The 2500 router looks like it goes for about $20 and the 2900 switches also around $20 with a quick search. Barring cable costs, I'd value those listed at around $170. I don't know if the 2500 takes WICs; if so it'd be a bit higher for that.

And I'd say that your price estimates could be a bit high. If you're willing to spend a little time and wait for a couple deals, you'll find them. Like the auction that I won for 3 2610's, all with 64/16 memory and a WIC-1dsu-t1 for $18 shipped (thats $6 each for the mathematically challenged). I'm up to 6 routers and 3 switches, plenty of modules and cables to go around and I'm still well short of $200.

And the 2500's are all fixed configuration except for the 2524 and 2525. They all have 2 serial ports and the difference is how many Ethernet or Token Ring interfaces they have.

Thanks for the replies, I might start pricing individual routers and trying to find a better deal. Or I might just get impatient and buy one of those kits.

Also try cableandkits.com I most of my stuff from them. They can be higher then ebay on some stuff but most of there routers are maxed out with ram and flash. Also they provide an in house warranty.
