  there are a few ibm certs (as noted). i can honestly say i have never seen any aix job require them. i have been using aix for some time, and was interested in the certs, however it just has never been a high priority from employers where i am so i dropped (it for now).

  I agree with this....usually you'll see IBM partners interested in their certs, as employees holding their certs allows the organization to move up the levels of the partner scheme.
  
  If anything, and I think this has been said here before, certs of any type are not often all that sought after in hard-core *nix environments.
