Anyone in IT Procurement?

hey guys,
I just landed a job with the provincial government here in Toronto as a Technology Procurement Officer. I'll be doing a 2 year internship with the first 12 months in this role.
I'm just wondering if anyone is this forum currently works or has worked in some form in Procurement, and if so what has the job entailed? My background is more on the network admin side which involves some purchasing for my current employer, but I'm curious what people who's entire job is in procurement do on a daily basis.
