Information Security

How does one get into the field? I just came out with a Bachelor's in IT and Business Admin (double major). I'm looking to get some certs, as well.

what area of security? usually this isn't something you jump into off the bat rather something you move into after getting some experience/certs under your belt.

Well, I'm researching right now. Sadly, a bit of a newbie. =/

Is there some sort of a guide out there for this? Comparing the areas (considering even I don't know them).

Security professionals are usually an experienced network admin who moves over. That doesn't say that you can't get into it, it is something that I am trying to do right now.

I recently took the Security+, which will hopefully get me moving in the right direction, and then I am currently working on MCSE:Security. After that I intend on looking for some other security specilized certifications, ideally leading to the CISSP.

Even then, I will still spend several years not working in security (at least not specializing in security, everyone in IT should have an eye on security). Would you hire someone straight out of college to be responsible for protecting your network?

No, but that's my eventual goal. Well, that or CIO/CTO one day. Yes, I'm shooting for the eventual big positions one day in life, I always want something going on around me.
