SDM express in Linux

in CCNA & CCENT
Any one come across this before.
I have SDM installed on a router and from a windows laptop I can open it fine.
However from my Linux PC with firefox on it, it opens so far and then right at the end if hands on
"retriving IOS sensor information"
Any idea what this is and how to get past it? I would really like to be able to use SDM from linux but I can't find out any thing about this error?

this is half the issue you cant use less than java 6_10 in firefox 3.6!!
so I wanted to install firefox 3.5. but I dont know enough to do it form source and I can't find a version in the unbuntu repositories...
any one got instructions to install firefox 3.5 from source in unbuntu?
