How quickly luck can change.

So last week I was facing bench time, my contract was ending on the Friday and I had nothing lined up except an interview last Tuesday for a perm Job earning the "average" rate (which was less than half what I earn contracting) I thought that this interview would have been a walk in the park and a great plan B if nothing better came up but it turned out to be the worst interview I ever had (there was I think a conflict of interest in the guy doing the second phase technical interview, but that's another story.....as it turns out no one got the job)...as crap as it was.

Anyhow on Thursday there was mass panic where I work because someone realised I was leaving so they went into panic mode and started rushing through the paperwork to get my contract extended by 3 months..happy days I thought. 30 mins later I also got a call asking me to come for an interview the following day at an office literally 15 minutes drive away....I forgot to shave that day but went to the interview anyway, I could not even remember what the job was I had applied for. And I meant I finished early and I didn't really care anyway as my contract was good until the end of November.

Turns out I nailed the interview and have just been offered the most amazing permie job I have ever seen (since my last permie job), so I think my contracting days are over........for a few years at least.

What a turn arround in fortune, and in only a week.

Congrats! Good luck in the new job.
This reminds me why I don't shave as much as possible. There is a lot to be said for lucky or magic stubble.

Congrats. The moral of the story here is to not give up. Treat every resume that you write as the one that is going to land you a job, because you never really know when it will.

I studied a bit of Welsh back in my early 20s. Amazing language. I wish there had been so many more ways to practice back then as there are now. It's very hard to learn any language in isolation. If I were exceptionally rich, I would spend my considerable free time learning Welsh and Irish rather than C# and SQL.
