RP mapping agent

In multicast lab ,I found an autorp mapping agent(just mapping agent ,no local rp config )can't learn RP from itself .

How to solve this problem , and I can't configure "set protocols pim rp auto-rp discovery" with "set protocols pim rp auto-rp mapping" at same time

am using 8.5S3.... does anybody encouter similar issue.

    Post some configs and some show commands for us to see...

    Ok, will do, but can you try to input both command under protocol pim together in your test bed first


    "set protocols pim rp auto-rp discovery"
    "set protocols pim rp auto-rp mapping"

    People here simply try to help and not after one's favor ... in terms of OK

    As far as your question concerned, to learn RP "from itself" this RP has to be configured "on itself", as a minimum. Then, mapping already implies discovery which means when you type 'auto-rp discovery' you enable announce, discover and mapping.

    i cant see this commnd exists ..any idea why this command used
